in support of the Delaney Hall detainees!
Over Memorial Day weekend a hunger strike at Delaney Hall highlighted the facility's poor living conditions. Hundreds of demonstrators, including several elected officials, gathered outside in solidarity. A Congressional delegation that included Senator Andy Kim was permitted inside and subsequently confirmed the troubling circumstances. Although discussions with Delaney Hall officials yielded initial promises regarding the potential transport of detained immigrants, those promises were quickly broken. As the crowd grew boisterous, facility officials deployed pepper spray, using it liberally on the protesters—including Senator Kim.
All Roads Lead to the South
In the short time since the Supreme Court's decision to further roll back voting rights, All Roads Lead to the South has organized a National Day of Action. The mobilization includes a prayer vigil at the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma and a national rally in Montgomery, Alabama.
If you have the means to travel, we urge you to attend these flagship events. If you need to stay local, a sister event will be held in Trenton. Please join this vital movement and stay tuned for further updates.
